Sunday 12th October, join us at Calcutta Club Nottingham for an unforgettable Diwali celebration filled with music, festivity and of course, an indulgent feast of Indian dishes.
This year, our Diwali menu brings together a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. Many of these dishes are exclusively created for Diwali day, so it’s the perfect occasion to gather with friends and family and enjoy flavours you won’t find on our menu at any other time.
Your Diwali Feast
The evening begins with a classic Indian favourite – Pani Puri. These crispy, bite-sized shells are filled with tangy tamarind water, spiced potatoes, chickpeas, and chutneys. Not only do they deliver a burst of flavour, but they’re also a delight to watch guests tackle – a little bit of fun before the feast begins!
Starters
Choose one from an exciting line-up of bold and vibrant flavours:
Techa Chicken – tender chicken breast marinated in garlic, coriander, and coconut, paired with a homemade chutney.
Tabak Mass – a lamb lover’s dream: spiced lamb ribs pan-fried to perfection, finished with a rich lamb stock reduction.
Gunpowder Calamari – crispy squid rings tossed in smoky South Indian spices.
Baaroodi Paneer – marinated paneer coated in honey, chilli, and a tangy mayo chutney.
Ram Ladoo – a Diwali day classic! Lentil fritters served with a vibrant mix of chutneys, yoghurt, radish, pomegranate, and mint.
Main Courses
A real highlight of the menu, with dishes inspired by Indian culinary traditions across regions:
Dak Bungalow Chicken – a colonial-era inspired dish cooked with coconut milk, spices, and topped with crispy potatoes.
Ghee Roast Lamb – rich, fiery lamb slow-cooked in ghee with red chillies and curry leaves.
Meen Pollichathu – salmon marinated in South Indian spices, wrapped in banana leaves, and gently steamed.
Paneer Methi Chaman – Kashmiri-style paneer simmered in spinach and fenugreek with a creamy finish.
Daal Ki Dulhan – comforting lentils with hand-rolled dumplings simmered in aromatic spices.
To accompany your main course, all tables will share freshly baked breads – sabzi kulcha, laacha paratha, garlic naan – and fragrant rice dishes: bhagara rice and Kashmiri rice.
Desserts
To finish, take your pick from indulgent creations that bring a sweet end to your Diwali feast:
Bhapa Doi Cheesecake – cardamom yoghurt cheesecake with a chai crème brûlée twist.
Pumpkin Halwa – spiced pumpkin halwa layered over soan papdi with jaggery caramel.
Mango Kulfi – creamy, cardamom-infused Indian ice cream.
A Feast for the Senses
This year, it’s harder than ever to choose a favourite dish. For starters, the Ram Ladoo is a must-try, while Tabak Mass and Gunpowder Calamari compete fiercely for the top spot. On the mains, it’s impossible to choose between the Dak Bungalow Chicken, Ghee Roast Lamb, and Meen Pollichathu – the solution? Bring a few friends, order different dishes, and share the joy.
As for dessert, cheesecake lovers may lean towards the Bhapa Doi Cheesecake, especially with its unique chai brûlée finish, but the Pumpkin Halwa is a seasonal delicacy you won’t want to miss.
Adding to the atmosphere, a live table musician will make the evening even more memorable, bringing the festive spirit of Diwali to life.
