Calcutta Club Specials
This May, our chefs have created a selection of seasonal specials inspired by regional Indian flavours, classic cooking techniques and comforting heritage dishes.
From tandoori favourites to rich slow-cooked curries, our Chef's specials are available throughout May at Calcutta Club Nottingham.
This Month’s Specials
Kasundhi Jhinga – king prawns marinated with mustard, yoghurt, and aromatic spices.
Tulsi Murgh Tikka – basil and lemongrass infused chicken cooked in the tandoor.
Aash Gosht – slow-simmered shredded lamb in a rich spiced broth.
Dak Bungalow – a historic colonial-era inspired chicken curry with coconut milk, whole spices, and crispy potatoes.
The Story Behind Dak Bungalow Curry
One of the highlights this month is our Dak Bungalow curry — a dish inspired by the roadside rest houses built during British colonial India.
Travellers crossing long distances would stop at these “dak bungalows” for hearty home-style meals prepared with local spices and ingredients. Over time, the curry became known for its comforting, rustic character and rich flavour.
Our version stays true to that spirit with tender chicken, warming spices, creamy coconut milk, and crispy potatoes.
